Cleaning Bronze and Brass

Bronze and brass are beautiful, affordable alternatives to solid gold, especially for bold statement pieces like this Brass Sun Disk Pendant

When exposed to moisture and humidity, they will develop a patina from oxidation. But rest assured that you can easily restore their original shine, either with a polishing cloth, or this home-made remedy.

Step 1: Fill a cup with some warm water and add a squeeze of lemon juice.

Step 2. Drop your jewelry piece into the water/lemon mixture. Let it soak for at least 10 minutes, or longer depending on how oxidized your jewelry piece is.

Step 3. Take them out and dry with tissue paper or a soft cloth. And voila - shiny and bright

Tip: To spot clean (i.e. only a pendant but not the chain) or to tackle textured surfaces, consider forming a paste with baking soda and a squeeze of lemon. Apply the paste in circular motion, wait for 30 minutes and rinse off.
